A quick look at the documentation should answer any burning questions you have on installing and using this theme. xMark comes as is - free for you to use and relased under a Creative Commons Share-Alike 2.5 Licence - which basically means you are free to use and share - to copy, distribute, and display the work as long as you keep the original designer attribution in place. Ahem - that would be me.
The Credits page give an idea of some folks who indirectly helped make this happen. The Plugins page shows the plugins this theme currently supports.
Looking for a demo of the theme? You’re looking at it. Currently the xMark Blog Theme Site is using the current version of xMark.

Upcoming
Support for total theme flexibility with a color picker in the admin options menu.
I’ve done my best with testing this puppy out - however, that being said, if you find a bug or somewhere within the code that I tripped up, be sure to let me know and I’ll get a fix right quick!
I hope you enjoy xMark as much as I enjoyed creating it. Please do leave a comment if you end up using it on your site!

Dear Lisa
How to change someone’s life in five minutes! You are my heroine!
Thank you for an excellent theme. I have actually been looking for a theme replacement on and off for weeks, but this stands out as being as near to exactly what I wanted as I could expect. Installed in five minutes and although there are a couple of things I will need to look at, I am happy to leave it for now.
I hope you will keep up the good work and I will come back to check, but for now many thanks for a brilliant job and for sharing your expertise.
Best wishes.

Very nice theme. I’m trying it out on my new blog. I’ll probably lighten up the dark areas of theme as I like things a bit more vibrant. Thanks for offering this theme to the WordPress community.

Hello Lisa,
This is a really great theme. I can’t imagine the amount of work you have put into it.
I wonder if it is possible to have a defined maximum width for the page and columns. I think that would offer a great deal of flexibility to the site as a whole.
Again, thank you for all of your hard work.
12:32 am on February 24th, 2007 14
Beautiful! Great work. I’ll be using it. Thank you for sharing the theme.

I’d really like to use your theme, but I’m having a problem: I can’t add any code to the sidebars, not even change the existing one. It simply does not show any changes I make. It’s like as if it was another theme sidebar, even if I delete something, there’s no change at all. I’m testing it offline, so there’s no cache stuff involved, despite I cleared the cache anyway. Any sugestions would be very apreciated.

beautifull themes. I had to do some changes.
1. Rss Feed - if you look at the header.php it points to yourwebsite’s feed. i had to change it to mine.
2. 2nd Sidebar. - Somehow in my blog once i enter a post it shows the right sidebar at the bottom of the post. Need help on this.
2:47 am on February 24th, 2007 17
John - thank you very much for your comments. I will consider that on the next release.
Robert - great to hear from you
thanks for your comments!
j.noronha - does your blog use widgets? hard for me to troubleshoot since your site does not currently have this theme.. but if you’re using widgets, then you need to be mindful of the code in the sidebar and place your items outside the widget code.
invi - thanks, I fixed the header. THat rss code must’ve made it in there in my last up date on the file. On your sidebar issue - impossible for me to see the problem, you did not leave the url to your site?

Hi. I am a great fan of your xMark theme and I have chosen to use it on my blog. I noticed that on the single post page, the far right sidebar appears at the bottom of the page rather than in its usual column space. I couldn’t figure out what in the template was causing this. Any help in fixing this would be appreciated. You can see an example of the issue here:

Hello Lisa
I have noticed that the search box actually takes a user to the main page of my site (the Wordpress blog is in a directory) and does not give search results, so I may have to put back the Google code which was in the previous template.
Other than that, I have not had time to look properly, but thank you for coming back on the earlier comment and best wishes for all your endeavours.
When I get time to look properly, I shall get back to you with any comments.
Again, well done and best wishes.

Elise - I took a look at your site and it looks normal to me. Are you still having troubles? Can you tell me what browser you are using, the version and what your OS is? I did release an update - so first make sure you are using version 1.0.1 and then if you’re still having problems, let me know. thanks!
Atomboy - I released a theme update. The latest version 1.0.1 fixes the search issue - I think you for the heads up!

Hello Lisa
Thanks for the update, which has done the trick, with the added benefit of a nifty little search box on top of the results. You are a clever girl!
I’m still hoping to get time to look at it properly, but I am very impressed.
I hope this will not be the last of your efforts in this area, as you clearly have a fine skill.
Keep up the good work.
Best wishes.

Lisa, the problem with the sidebar was fixed with your new release 1.0.1.
One this i noticed is there’s not an option to edit the posts unless is done from the admin panel.
Thank you for such a greate theme.
6:48 pm on February 24th, 2007 26
Ahh - the edit link. Heh - I never use that link because it bugs me to see it. But, that being said, I do understand why folks like the funcitonality of it. So, I added it and updated the d/l files if you want to re-download it.
I added the ‘edit’ link to the posts (both on the index and single pages), the ‘Asides’ post (if you use that), the static page and to the comments. The files that have changed:
index.php
single.php
page.php
comments.php
Cheers!

Hello Lisa
At the risk of humiliating myself in public and showing that I have a high level of stupidity, is it possible to change the red cross, X-marks the spot symbol?
I cannot seem to find it in /images or as a reference in any .css or .php files.
Sorry to be so dumb.
Thanks and best wishes.
12:05 pm on February 25th, 2007 30
Problem solved! I think I’m not that stupid, the very moment I sent my other comment I saw the light, it really was a widget problem. As soon as I work on a personalized header, it’s gonna be up and running. Thanks for your answer and your great work.
1:04 pm on February 25th, 2007 31
Atomboy - it is the bodybg.png file that you’ll find in the /images folder and is referenced in the CSS in the .container element

Had to stop back by and say “Thank You” for an excellent theme in xMark. Best I’ve ever used and the easiest to plug in and just use. So many have layout issues or when adding posts mess up a and wrecks the whole layout. This doesn’t.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Lisa. Im still having the issues with the second sidebar showing at the bottom on the page when i create a post.
here’s an example: http://www.megatalentos.com/2007/02/25/jennifer-lopez-alfonbra-roja-de-los-oscar/
Thanks
11:36 pm on February 25th, 2007 38
Invi - took a look at your source code and you’ve changed the code structure quite a bit from the original. On a very cursory look at your single post page (single.php template file) - you have an extraneious div tag:
<div id="blogc" class="blogc"><div class="date">Sunday, February 25, 2007 at 11:09 pm <iframe src="http://rank.blogalaxia.com/pbrate.php?color=ffffff&url=<$BlogItemPermalinkURL$>" width=70 height=15 scrolling=no frameborder=0 marginheight=0 marginwidth=0 style='margin:0; padding:0'></iframe>3 Views</div></div>That last closed div tag is causing issues. You need to take a look at your code and make sure that all your div tags are closed properly, and that you don’t have any extraneous div tags hanging in there.
I didn’t look further beyond that. I would recommend starting over with the original theme files and try adding your own coding in from there - - staying mindful of the code tags already in the template.
Cheers!

The issue I was having earlier seemed to have resolved itself (bizarre) and I have upgraded to the newest version of the theme which works great.
I do, however, have a request. Is it possible for you to share the layered image (Adobe PSD) of the header graphic? It would make it a lot easier to personalize the theme.
Thanks!
1:20 am on February 26th, 2007 40
Hi Elise - good to hear the problems worked themselves out.
RE: the PSD files — because the graphics used in the base template layout are very minimam and only includes the one header file that is a very simple design, I did not include the PSD - nor did I keep a PSD of the header file. Making a header for this theme will be very simple, if working with PS is something you’re able to do. Sorry to dissapoint

I discovered your theme yesterday and am using it now. It’s very nice and I like the documentation and chance to learn about CSS, too, on your site. Your general user-friendliness on your site and docs is great!
But I have a question concerning categories. I have a lot of them and placing the number below the name in the list takes up a lot of room on my site. I was wondering if the number could be placed beside the name instead? I took a look at the various codes but I’m too inexperienced with php coding to know where to begin.
5:27 pm on March 2nd, 2007 51
Marde - thank you for your comments. actually the category number thing is something I noticed after I released it and I am planning on making an adjustment there soon. I’ve been pretty bogged down with deadlines this past week, or so - so have not been able to get to that. Keep your eye here because it will be updated within the next day or so.
Thank you!

Lisa, I noticed today that your category numbers are to the right of the names. I checked your download and it gave a date of today, so I figured you’d made the change. However, when I installed xmark I still got the numbers below the names. Also, every file in xmark has the same date and time as the previous xmark-1.0.1. Am I confused here about something? Sorry for the bother again.

This is a truly excellent theme; the best I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you for it. Can I ask a question? It looks like you have two blogrolls on this site. How did you create the “Inspiring” link list? Is it a widget or can you have two blogrolls on a site?
Thanks again for a superb theme.

Hi Mark - thank you for your comments.
For two, or more, blogrolls - you just need to create another Blogroll category and assign some links to it. If you’re using the Links Widget in your sidebar - the second, and subsequent, blogrolls will show up.
Thanks!

Sweetie, I love, love, love this theme!!!!!
Just one question… Is there any way to remove my blog name in the header? I already removed the bodybg image on the top, but, if you look at my new custom header, you can see the name of my blog in my image. (Sorry…I’m artistic, but dumb when it comes to code.)
Also, I noticed that I would have to click in that general area to go back to my homepage…Is there any way to make my entire header clickable (which would redirect to my homepage)? Again, sorry, but I’m not that bright with this stuff.
Any help you can give would be awesome.
Thanks again! GREAT theme!!!!

it was love at first site. A few days later I found out about 2 (I’m slow-a few french-fries short of a Happy Meal). All’s well, and then, without warning, from the corner of my eye I saw “it.” I held back a scream, and luckily, with my hand already on my mouse, I was able to click away before any further mental damage was done. Now…
Help????
When I upgraded the text “exploded”…almost literally it went from normal to Readers Digest BIG version. Just tell me what to do-I follow direction well.
Thank you so much…
